PASADENA, Calif. -- The end of Mad Men is now closer than ever.

AMC announced on Saturday that the Emmy-winning series will begin airing its final batch of episodes on April 5 at 10 p.m. ET.

Officially, Mad Men's seventh and final season kicked off a year ago, with its first seven episodes. These last seven are being billed as the second half of that same season.

"What an incredible journey this has been. I take great pride in what the entire Mad Men team was able to create episode after episode, season after season," executive producer and creator Matthew Weiner said in a release. "We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride, and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us."

Since its debut in 2007, the critically adored series has earned seven Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, and walked away with four wins in that category.

One important note: With 85 days (12 weeks) before the show starts its final stretch, it's not too late to hop aboard the Man Men train. (Why anyone would put it off this long is none of my business, but so cool you're out of that coma.)

Catching up on all 85 episodes won't be easy, but it's possible. As evidence, we crunched some numbers, and have come up with the following estimates -- calculated assuming you start this daunting task today. (Note the word "estimates.")

AMC is also airing episodes every Sunday morning at 6 a.m. ET.

At a panel during the Television Critics Association press tour on Saturday morning, January Jones, joined on stage by Jon Hamm and other cast members, described the final episode as "a beautiful story and very fitting in a way."

"I was definitely surprised in the best way," Elizabeth Moss added of reading the final script. "Just really really happy with it."

Meanwhile, famously secretive creator Matt Weiner didn't outright squash the possibility of a future spin-off of some sort -- though, he did call the series a "complete ride" -- Hamm happily provided his own suggestion.

"Better Call Pete," he said.
