The state of Massachusetts is working to restore power for tens of thousands after a snowstorm hammered New England.

And it's not over yet.

While the worst of the storm missed some of the East Coast -- and ended up causing far less snowfall than had been projected -- Massachusetts was not as lucky. Some areas of the state have already reported more than two feet of snow.

Boston received 11.8 inches of snow. Logan Airport remains closed, with few signs that it would be able to open soon.

Much of New England remains under a blizzard warning from the National Weather Service, which has warned of strong winds and continued heavy snow with accumulations of 15 to 25 inches. The worst of the storm is projected to pass through the area in the afternoon.

Some areas have already sustained heavy damage. Nantucket, an island community off the coast of Massachusetts, suffered from flooding after enduring sustained winds of up to 55 mph. The town is without power as of 8 a.m. EST, according to local media.

Residents of Scituate, Massachusetts, woke up to severe flooding on Tuesday morning as a result of the storm. The rising tide and driving winds caused flooding on several coastal streets. Power was shut off for 200 homes in the area ahead of the storm as a precaution, because if there was a fire, crews would not be able to reach the affected homes.
