Former IMF chief Dominque Strauss-Kahn gave evidence in a French court on Tuesday, having been charged with aggravated pimping.

Sounding quite blasé, Strauss-Kahn defended his libertine ways.

Here are the classiest quotes from the former French politician:

On orgies

"The prosecution gives the impression of unbridled activity," he told the court. But "there were only 12 parties in total -- that is four per year over three years," he added.

And how orgies relieve stress

"I had a very hectic life, with just a few outlets for recreation, and these sessions were part of that," Strauss-Kahn said.

On saving the world

"I had other things to do,” Strauss-Kahn said. Among his preoccupations? "Political ambition" and "saving the world.”

And sex in the afternoon

"During libertine afternoons like these, things happen pretty quickly," he said. “It often happens that I have sex with women I’ve never met," he said.

On why women slept with him

"I am horrified by the idea of using prostitutes," he said. "I always believed that these women came for me -- because of who I am."
