Here's one golfer you don't want to hassle about letting you play through.

Our scene is Myakka Pines Golf Club, hole number seven, where patrons approaching the green were greeted by a massive alligator that casually took a stroll, and laid down on the grass, just feet from the flagpole.

The encounter happened last week, but photos posted on Myakka Pines' Facebook page have just now gone viral. And believe it or not, the course's operators couldn't be happier about their surprise visitor.

As mentioned, Myakka Pines officials don't mind the gator -- quite the contrary.

Here's a message posted to the course's Facebook page on Wednesday: "Myakka Pines will be on every single local news station tonight, and we've been contacted by CNN, ESPN, GolfChannel, NY Times, Washington Post, WINK News, Turner Broadcasting...and on and on and on! Value of the internet!!! We could not pay for this kind of exposure. I am sooooo excited!!"

The club's general manager, Mickie Zada, said the alligator was estimated to be about 12 or 13 feet long, but added that a former Myakka Pines regular nicknamed "Big George" was even bigger -- coming in at around 15 feet long.

Apparently, gator sightings are quite common at Myakka Pines.

"If it's really cold, you might not see one," Zada told ESPN.com. "But if there's any sunshine at all, it would be impossible for you to play 18 and not see a gator."
