Even with Instagram filters, we can still screw up photos we take on our mobile phones. Maybe it's too dark or horizontal rather than vertical. Or perhaps you just want to augment your photo with some text or a superimposed image.

You can do all those things on Adobe's various photo-editing apps, but Lightricks, maker of Facetune, the sixth best-selling paid app of 2014, promises to offer more functionality. Enlight.

Enlight, which is available for $3.99 at the App Store, includes features you can find in in those apps, including cropping, filters and effects and promises better performance. (Many reviewers have deemed Photoshop Touch sluggish.)

Lightricks credits a proprietary visual processing engine for mobile for its purportedly swift performance. The company dubs it a sort of Swiss Army knife for mobile photos.

Perhaps Enlight's coolest feature is the ability to manipulate objects in a frame. If the shot shows two people standing far apart, for instance you can use the app to put them together.
