It's always good to have a backup plan in case your current career doesn't work out. Case in point: America's sweetheart Tom Hanks tried his hand at selling Girl Scout cookies last month.

Hanks was spotted in Los Altos, California, by some eagle-eyed Girl Scouts and posed for a picture with them.

The actor offered to take photos with passers-by on the condition they buy at least one box of cookies, according to the Los Altos Town Crier. Hanks made off with four boxes and left a $20 tip.

We're not sure about Hanks' cookie preference, but we could see him rooting for the underdog -- like shortbread -- or going for a universal favorite like Thin Mints.

It's also possible Hanks is researching for an upcoming role as an undercover Girl Scout. Now that would be a solid career move.
