It seems that things have gotten much darker for One Direction fans. First, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were forced to pay a "weed bond" to tour in the Philippines in response to a video of the pair getting high.

Now, Zayn is leaving the band's international tour.

It's unclear how long Zayn will be taking a leave of absence. The band's publicist tweeted a statement confirming the news. Mashable has reached out for further comment.

In the meantime, we consulted some teens on whether they thought this indicated Zayn would quit One Direction altogether. The response was unanimously "fuck no."

However, the Directioners disagree on Zayn's reasons for leaving the tour, as "stress" is a pretty vague term. There has to be more to the story.

Some teens think Zayn didn't pay the $5,000 weed bond that would be forfeited if he's caught promoting drugs while in the Philippines. Others believe he is trying to win back his fiancée, Perrie Edwards of Little Mix, after photos of the singer holding hands with another girl surfaced. Some think he's sick of being tied down and actually wants to break things off with Perrie.

Online, fans are also appropriately freaking out and speculating. Many are using the well-wishing hashtag #HaveaGoodRestZayn.

Whatever the case, best of luck to you as you de-stress, Zayn. Drink some chamomile tea and go for a walk -- your fans are literally dying right now, so get it together.
