Elon Musk is getting ready to make Tesla Motors more than just an electric car company.

The serial entrepreneur tweeted on Monday that he plans to showcase a new Tesla product at the company's Hawthorne Design Studio in California on April 30.

Major new Tesla product line -- not a car -- will be unveiled at our Hawthorne Design Studio on Thurs 8pm, April 30— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 30, 2015

The tweet offers no clue as to the new product category, but Musk pretty much revealed his Tesla diversification plans last month during the company's earning call.

“We are going to unveil the Tesla home battery, the consumer battery that would be for use in people’s houses or businesses fairly soon,” Musk said, according to Bloomberg.

While it remains unclear how a Tesla battery will work in residential homes, Musk’s efforts to replace traditional energy-generating utilities is not new. He already holds the position of chairman of one of the country's largest rooftop solar system installers, SolarCity.

What is surprising, however, is the possibility that Musk may launching these batteries under the Tesla brand instead of SolarCity. Obviously, Musk could also introduce something completely different not related to batteries.

Musk's tweet has left many guessing about the new line using the hashtag #TeslaNewProductGuesses.
