The pugalicious wedding of the year is happening in Melbourne, Australia.

Two rescued pugs, Jasmine and Jasper, are set to say "I do", before Jasper licks the bride, in a ceremony taking place on Sunday, May 17 at the West Beach Bathers Pavilion in St Kilda.

These two balls of joy have had a long journey and have been through many hard times together. The happy couple were surrendered into care in 2013, morbidly obese, struggling to breathe and with severe eye problems.

Never leaving each others side, they were nursed back to health by the team at Pug Rescue & Adoption Victoria with a pudgy-puggy bootcamp to shed the excess pounds and regular eye treatment to clear up blindness-causing pigmentation.

Soon, Jasmine and Jasper were rolling around in the mud and slurping up a storm. Then they were placed in a loving home. After moving in together, it seemed fitting the two should be wed in a extravagant ceremony -- for charity, of course.

The lavish Melbourne venue will be styled by Christian Wagstaff (no, that's not a pun!) and his team, who are respected Australian event designers. In front of more than 300 two-legged guests and 60 four-legged ones, too, the bride will walk down the aisle in a dress by renowned Melbourne couture wedding gown designer Craig Braybrook, with a matching bridal party.

Feisty Frank will be there for his pal, Jasper, in his role of Best Man, while Maid of Honour Fancy Nancy will have her eyes welling up as she sees Jasmine wed her longtime love. If everything goes as planned and the pugs don't inhale the wedding cake or flood the venue with drool, it will be the social event of the year.

The guests can look forward to drinks, canapés, wedding cake, a puggy treats bar and inspiring stories about the rehabilitation of pugs across Australia. The tickets cost $60 for a human and $30 for a pug, with all proceeds going to Pug Rescue Victoria.

The mother of the bride and groom, Alison, told Mashable the family wanted to give something back while celebrating the new lives of their happy pugs. "We wanted to come up with something different to firstly celebrate the lives of two very happy re-homed pugs," Alison said. "Secondly, to help give back to Pug Rescue, that did such a wonderful job in rescuing them and restoring their health."

A gift registry will also be set up, but this is not for home appliances, as Jasmine and Jasper have all they need. The happy couple want you to help Pug Rescue's medical and general needs via a subscription-based donation service.
