Start them up again: The Rolling Stones announce North American tour

The Rolling Stones are heading back to North America.

The band confirmed the news on their Twitter account Tuesday morning.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts are kicking off the Zip Code tour in San Diego on May 24. They will then stop in Columbus, Minneapolis, Dallas, Atlanta, Orlando, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Raleigh, Indianapolis, Detroit and Buffalo before ending in Quebec on July 15.

Mick Jagger hinted there was news to come on Monday.

The Zip Code tour venues were confirmed in a YouTube clip released by the band.

"People say, 'how come you're still doing this,' but I can't believe I did this when I was 20," Jagger says during the video.

"Back on the road, I'm in my element," Richards adds.

The band are playing the following dates:

May 24 - Petco Park, San Diego

May 30 - Ohio Stadium, Columbus

June 3 - TCF Bank Stadium, Minneapolis

June 6 - AT&T Stadium, Dallas

June 9 - Bobby Dodd Stadium, Atlanta

June 12 - Citrus Bowl, Orlando

June 17 - LP Field, Nashville

June 20 - Heinz Field, Pittsburgh

June 23 Summerfest / Marcus Amphitheater, Milwaukee

June 27 Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City

July 1 Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh

July 4 Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis

July 8 Comerica Park, Detroit

July 11 Ralph Wilson Stadium, Buffalo

July 15 Le Festival d’été de Québec, Quebec

The band also released a new video featuring a live performance of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" to mark the news.

The Stones' 1971 album Sticky Fingers, which included the likes of "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses", will be re-released to coincide with the tour on May 26 in North America (May 25 globally) and will include a number of previously unreleased studio outtakes.

The Zip Code tour is the first time the band have played North American stadiums since their A Bigger Bang Tour, which ran from 2005 to 2007. Tickets go on sale April 13.
