Jon Stewart addresses controversy over 'Daily Show' replacement Trevor Noah

On Monday's episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart addressed the controversy surrounding Trevor Noah's tweets concerning Israel and women.

Stewart urged viewers to give the South African comedian a chance.

"I can say this, I think, without hesitation: Trevor Noah will earn your trust and respect -- or not. Just as I earned your trust and respect... or did not," Stewart said. "My experience with him is that he is an incredibly thoughtful and considerate and funny and smart individual, and man, I think, you give him that time, and it’s going to be well worth it.”

Noah, who was announced as Stewart's replacement on March 30, quickly became the center of a debate over questionable jokes on social media.
