The beautiful art of celebrating with overflowing champagne on the Formula One podium has taken an ugly twist.
F1 driver Lewis Hamilton has been torn to shreds for spraying a hostess in the face with champagne after winning the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday. While most victims of such a crime might be trying to catch the bubbles, the woman looks mighty unpleased with the hit to the head.
Some viewers took to Twitter claiming the move was an intentionally sexist act and labelled Hamilton a "douchebag," while others were quick to defend the Mercedes driver.

Some crazy women are out in force to criticise Lewis Hamilton for spraying someone with champagne on the podium. You're actually mental.— Baked Brit (@BakedBrit1) April 13, 2015
Champion Hamilton didn't seem phased by all the attention -- or is simply having a rest after the hectic GP, where he got in a bitter feud with his teammate Nico Rosberg, who was furious about his driving strategy.
Thank you Shanghai! Thank you to my incredible team! And thank you to all the amazing supporters out here! #TeamLH pic.twitter.com/OL0g2mkKN5— Lewis Hamilton (@LewisHamilton) April 12, 2015
