Android users: Your wait for Meerkat is almost over.

Meerkat is now allowing Android users to sign up to get access to the beta version of the Android app, the company announced Wednesday.

The company had previously confirmed an Android version of the livestreaming app was in the works but this is the first time it has announced the availability of a public beta.

Android users who want to get their hands on the early version of the app can sign up via the Google form to get access. It's not clear if Meerkat plans to limit the number of beta users -- as many companies often do during testing periods. A representative for Meerkat declined to comment on the Android beta program.

Meerkat and its Twitter-owned rival Periscope are both iOS only apps for now, though an Android version is likely a high priority for both teams as they look to keep up with the momentum surrounding their platforms. For its part, Periscope has also confirmed an Android app is in the works, though there is no word yet on timing.
