SpaceX's latest attempt to land the first stage of its Falcon 9 rocket on a drone ship floating in the ocean this Tuesday was not fully successful, but the footage from the impact showed that it was not far off either.

Now, a video that appeared on Reddit apparently shows the landing from the ship itself, giving a far more dramatic look into the failed landing attempt.

As Elon Musk put it, the landing was "too hard for survival". If the video above is genuine, it's pretty clear to see why.

SpaceX hasn't confirmed the authenticity of the video at the time of this writing, but it does look consistent with the earlier video posted on Twitter by the company. While the original video was quite blurry, on Thursday SpaceX posted a "high resolution and color corrected" video of the attempted landing.

We've contacted SpaceX to confirm the authenticity of the new video but haven't had an immediate response.
