On Thursday night Jon Stewart said an extravagant goodbye to deranged billionaire John Hodgman.

Hodgman, a writer and comedian, has made appearances on The Daily Show since 2005. His deranged billionaire character has become a sort of entitled, solid gold and diamond-encrusted staple on the late night comedy news show. Hodgman's rich alter-ego regularly brags about hanging out with Mitt Romney and owns a chain of theme restaurants based on the industrial revolution. Hodgman announced that he would be leaving the show on Thursday to move to a luxury space gated community on the moon.

Try not to get too emotional while Hodgman exits the show via a mysterious cosmic monolith.

As Jon Stewart's tenure on The Daily Show begins to wind down, several of his contributors and correspondents have decided to jump ship from the award winning Comedy Central broadcast as well. Jason Jones said goodbye a few weeks ago, while Larry Wilmore and John Oliver left to anchor their own broadcasts on Comedy Central and HBO, respectively. Longtime correspondent Samantha Bee (who's married to Jones) will also head up her own show on TBS.
