High school and college student demonstrators returned to the streets Wednesday evening in Baltimore, as hundreds carrying signs and chanting the now-familiar calls for justice made their way from Baltimore Penn Station to City Hall.

They were joined by protesters in New York City, who gathered just after 6 p.m. in Union Square in what they said was solidarity with the demonstrators in Baltimore.

Protests were planned in at least six other cities: Boston, Washington, Denver, Minneapolis, San Diego and Chicago.

They were organized to show support for the ongoing protests in Baltimore, which began after the mysterious death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who reportedly died from injuries he sustained while in custody of the Baltimore Police Department.
