Pedestrians in Devon, England, were astonished to see a gargantuan bird charging down the street on Thursday.
The unusually hurried bird was an emu, a pet who had apparently escaped from its owner's residence to take a jaunt around town. Bystander Nikita Miles took video of the unusual incident on her phone. "I had never seen one before," she told Metro UK. "I thought, 'What the hell's that?"

When the police arrived, Miles told them about the bizarre sight she had witnessed — and they apparently asked her if she was on drugs.
Fortunately, the emu's owner showed up to fetch it, and the bird was returned home safe and sound, Metro UK reports.
Perhaps our feathered friend was just popping down to the shops for some milk?
