Let's hope the Westboro Baptist Church has some essence of Dittany on hand, because these muggles just got burned.
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling fired back at the extremist religious organization after they criticized her for supporting Ireland's decision to legalize same-sex marriage.
Rowling originally tweeted the vote was "extraordinary and wonderful," and then quickly proposed that Albus Dumbledore, the gay headmaster of Hogwarts, could now marry Gandalf, from the Lord of the Rings franchise, in Ireland.
Sitting here watching the Irish make history. Extraordinary and wonderful.— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) May 23, 2015
.@justaoifethings Then they could get married IN IRELAND! pic.twitter.com/yXedPavZfp— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) May 23, 2015
The Westboro Baptist Church did not take kindly to Rowling's suggestion, but Rowling responded to their comments sharply and directly.
.@WBCsigns Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls.— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) May 26, 2015
While Rowling's tweet went viral -- being favorited 18,000 times -- a few of Rowling's fans did not appreciate she was giving the church any publicity or recognition.
I don't care about WBC. I think it's important that scared gay kids who aren't out yet see hate speech challenged. https://t.co/XumjDmEjuw— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) May 27, 2015
