Friday night's Red Sox v. A's game came to a halt when a piece of a broken bat flew into the stands at Fenway Park, striking and injuring a fan. After several minutes of being attended to by medical personnel, the fan was carried to a stretcher on the field and carried out of the stadium.

The fan is suffering life-threatening injuries, Boston police told The Boston Globe.
According to reports from the field, the fan was yelling in pain as she was wheeled away. Her child was consoled by a police officer on the field and was later escorted out by medics.
