On June 30, 2015, the global celebration that is Social Media Day returns. As has become a yearly tradition, the sixth annual Social Media Day will comprise of hundreds of global events, as thousands of people reflect on the ways social media and digital innovation have changed our world.
If this is your first exposure to Social Media Day, there are a number of ways you can participate in this global event, whether that’s connecting with others online through the #SMDay hashtag, or through in-person events across the world.
Below we’ve highlighted a variety of U.S. Social Media Day events taking place on or around the June 30 holiday. If you’d like to attend an event, but can’t find an event on the list near you, you can connect with the Mashable Meetup Organizers group to find an event close by.
Here are six U.S. events taking place around the country:
Chicago
When: June 30, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT

Social Media Day in Chicago is holding its fifth year of annual celebrations, and the night will recognize some of the top social media talent and accomplishments during the past year. The event will also feature panels on Facebook and Twitter, visual social platforms and live streaming.

Palm Coast, Florida
When: June 30, 2015, starting at 6:30 p.m. ET
Where: 20 Airport Rd, Suite B2, Palm Coast, Florida 32164 (RSVP)
The City of Palm Coast officially proclaimed June 30 as Palm Coast Social Media Day. The free event will feature dozens of local business people and social media influencers, complimentary appetizers and an open bar, which will showcase a Social Media Day signature cocktail.
The night will include a “twofie” contest, AKA a two-person selfie, an IRL engagement tool to showcase interactions and myriad networking opportunities. Anyone is welcome as long as you meet one of the three criteria: an active Twitter account, an active Instagram account or you manage a Facebook business page.
Tampa, Florida
When: June 30, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET
Where: 490 Channelside Dr, Tampa, Florida 33602
If you’re just looking for an outlet to celebrate Social Media Day — and by that, we mean party — the Social Media Day festivities in Tampa Bay may be a good option. On June 30, Tampa’s organizers are hosting a night of food, drinks and lots of networking.
For all those regular attendees, your night begins at 6 p.m. ET. But if you’re a social media professional, or believe your resume is up to par in the space, you might just make the VIP list — and your night begins at 5 p.m. ET.
Addison, Texas
When: June 29 and 30, 2015

Now into its fourth year of existence, Addison's Social Media Day events have grown into a two-day marketing conference. Boasting one of the largest social media day events in Texas, this year's conference will feature more than 30 speakers and sessions.

Buffalo, New York

It’s always a joy to meet some of your favorite social media connections in real life — but what about your favorite social platforms and apps? At the Buffalo, New York Social Media Day event, some of your favorite apps, from Pinterest to TimeHop to Instagram, will “come to life.”

South Florida
When: June 28, 2015, starting at noon ET

2015 marks the fourth year Social Media Day South Florida is celebrating this holiday. One of the country’s largest Social Media Day meetups, this day of panels, networking events and cocktail hour has seen more than 900 attendees and 40 speakers in previous years.
