CBS is standing by the Good Wife creators' decision to work some "movie magic" in order to produce a greatly important final scene between Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Kalinda (Archie Panjabi).

The scene, which aired as part of the show's season finale, was widely panned for its use of CGI, as it was the last time fans would see the friends together; Panjabi left The Good Wife in May after 6 seasons.

Additionally, the moment showed the characters together on screen for the first time in three seasons.

"I stand by how [creators] Robert and Michelle King produce their show," Tassler told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour -- confirming, as previously reported, that there was "movie magic" involved in the filming of the scene.

Though it's never been addressed by producers, the cast or CBS, it's been rumored that behind-the-scenes tension between Margulies and Panjabi led to their lack of screen time together over the years.

At TCA, Tassler said she puts more stock in results than methods. "Did the relationship work? Did the story work? Did the audience feel like they saw the end of the relationship? And they did," she said.

The CBS president claimed she hadn't heard of the audience's negative reaction to the May scene, but says "people are much more invested in Alicia's journey, and that's where the show is going -- forward to the future."

Speak of which: When asked whether the show is headed into its final year, Tassler answered emphatically: "Oh, I hope not."
