The World's Most Dangerous Group, meet Twitter's Most Desperate to Please Brands.

At the height of their fame in 1988, N.W.A. -- the group behind such provocative classics as "Fuck tha Police" -- drew FBI warning letters, radio bans and condemnations from politicians.

Today, with a high-profile biopic on the way and a founding member in the executive suite of the world's biggest company, they are safe enough to sell Snickers bars.

A meme generator designed to promote the upcoming Straight Outta Compton movie went viral on Twitter this week, spawning the hashtag #StraightOutta as Twitter users joked around with their own N.W.A.-themed art overlaid with a customizable "Straight outta ________" label.

Naturally, some brands were quick to jump on the bandwagon with their own tongue-in-cheek product-placement renditions.

N.W.A. may have been the most controversial act in America in their prime, but today the violence and street life they evoked in their music has been mostly chalked up to gritty realism and social protest.

For brands, it's a chance to connect with younger crowds and showcase the goofy irony of giving their prosaic products a hardcore makeover.
