Tracy Morgan is staging his comeback on familiar turf: SNL.

Morgan will host the Oct. 17 episode of the show. It will mark his first public performance since being involved in a June 2014 crash that claimed the life of comic James “Jimmy Mack” McNair.

Injuries from the crash left Morgan unable to participate in SNL big Season 40 celebration in February and largely out of the public eye until earlier this summer when he sat down with Matt Lauer on Today.

Morgan's return was part of a larger announcement that touted the first three SNL hosts of Season 41.
