The special 90-minute series premiere of Fear the Walking Dead on AMC drew over 10 million viewers on Sunday night, the network announced Monday, making it the number one series premiere in all of cable history.

The spin-off and prequel to AMC's The Walking Dead made its television debut with 10.1 million viewers, including 6.3 million adults in the coveted 18-49 age demographic, making the network home to three of the top five cable series premieres of all time: Fear the Walking Dead at #1, Better Call Saul at #2, and The Walking Dead at #5.

The network's continued success is a feat, considering we're in the age of the post-DVD era, where online streaming is more popular than ever.

"It is increasingly difficult to evaluate a show’s success on night one,"said Charlie Collier, president of AMC and SundanceTV. "However, we are releasing these live/same day ratings because Fear the Walking Dead delivered record-breaking numbers that are all the more special in this era of time-shifted viewing and audience fragmentation."

The first season of Fear the Walking Dead will run for six episodes this fall, and will return for a 15-episode run of a second season next year.
