Berlin's IFA trade show usually matches up with Sony's flagship smartphone release schedule, and it seems this year will be no exception.

Sony Xperia's UK arm posted a teaser photo for a "smartphone with greater focus" on Twitter Monday, saying all will become clear on Sept. 2, two days before the official start of this year's IFA.

The photo accompanying the tweet is (purposely, we hope) very blurry, but it shows a smartphone taking a photo of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate. And while Sony's hints aren't exactly the hardest to decipher (Berlin, IFA, get it?), we still can't say for sure if we're going to see a new flagship (perhaps the Xperia Z5) or just a photography-focused smartphone on Sept. 2.

From what can be seen in the photo, the new device will stay true to Sony's tried, tested (and somewhat tired) Xperia design. The global Sony Xperia Twitter account and the company's press machine have stayed mum on the subject, so we'll just have to wait a few more weeks to find out more.
