The late Whitney Houston will make a posthumous comeback as a hologram in 2016.

Holographic Houston will embark on a world tour next year, starting with a live-streamed concert that will be recorded at a yet-to-be-announced U.S. venue.

The hologram tour is a partnership between Hologram USA and Houston's sister Pat Houston, who is the president of the legend's estate. (No word yet on whether they plan to change the chorus of "I'm Every Woman" to "anything you want done, baby, I do it holographically.")

Similar to how Tupac Shakur "performed" as a hologram alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre at Coachella in 2012, Houston's hologram will interact with live elements during the touring concerts, Hologram USA's CEO Alki David told Billboard.

"The show will not just be Whitney comes on, sings and gets off," David said. "The narrative will document parts of her life, her achievements and celebrate Whitney. ... the musical arrangement, the choreography right down to the lighting and the design will be done with the original artists and original technicians and composers who worked with Whitney in the past so as to maintain absolute authenticity."

Houston was 48 when she accidentally drowned in a Los Angeles hotel bathtub three years ago, with cocaine and heart disease cited as contributing factors in her death.

Her hologram is only the latest reincarnation to follow Tupac's virtual comeback. In 2014, The Billboard Music Awards resurrected Michael Jackson as a hologram to perform "Slave to the Rhythm.

A Billboard spokesperson told Mashable that Jackson's estate and Pulse Evolution created the experience, a process that took longer than a year and more than 100 people.

Earlier that year, M.I.A. and Janelle Monae both performed private solo concerts in different cities before teaming up at the end of their shows as life-sized 3D projections.

And in 2013, Wu-Tang Clan resurrected Ol' Dirty Bastard as a hologram. Rumors of TLC reviving Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes as a hologram circulated in 2013, but ultimately fizzled.

Back in 2007, Celine Dion sang a duet with a virtual Elvis on American Idol as well.

Months after Houston's death, her final recording, a duet with American Idol Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks, was released:

A year later, Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances came out, giving fans the first unreleased music from Houston since her Sparks duet.
