Apple pulled the plug on today's anticipated Apple WatchOS 2 release after the discovery of a bug. There's no word yet on when, exactly, Apple will release WatchOS 2.

"We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected. We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly,” an Apple spokesman told Mashable in a statement.

Apple unveiled Apple WatchOS 2 in June during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. Its key enhancement is that it offers third-party app developers the ability to directly access the watch's hardware through their apps.

The watchOS delay will not impact Wednesday's iOS 9 release, according to Apple.
