LONDON -- Dating can be a notoriously awkward affair at the best of times, but it's even worse if you find yourself stuck with someone who's either a) incredibly stingy or b) naggingly persistent.

Or, as is clearly the case with the person texting below, both.

Londoner Luke Mackay tweeted the following exchange -- which he said was between a friend of his and someone described as "quite literally the worst person in the world," -- on Thursday. The conversation has since been shared well over 1,000 times.

My friend went on a date with quite literally the worst person in the world. HOW NICE IS SHE THOUGH. pic.twitter.com/6H7pPJGNZS— Luke Mackay (@Lukemackaycooks) September 24, 2015

Right, let's break down that exchange down into different stages.

It starts with a polite (but firm) refusal of a second date.

A refusal that was totally ignored.

The first refusal is followed by two more (equally polite) refusals.

Then things start to get a bit strange.

The final screenshot is slightly back-to-front, but you get the gist.

Beware, people of Britain; if you have a bad date, you'd better be prepared to swap bank details and get that drink paid back, pronto.
