LONDON -- Sweeping orchestral opening? Check. Ominous minor chords? Check. Intense, brooding vocals? Check. The full-length version of Sam Smith's Bond theme song landed Friday morning -- sticking closely to that cookie-cutter formula we've come to expect from previous instalments in the franchise.
The full version, which runs for 4 minutes and 38 seconds, was described by the singer as a "classic Bond song" in an interview with BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw.
Introducing the single Friday morning, Smith told Twitter it was a very special day and he was grateful for the support he'd received.
I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time.— SAM SMITH (@samsmithworld) September 25, 2015
Smith has a lot to live up to -- in 2013, Adele's "Skyfall" became the first Bond song to ever win the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
