For many, being the most valuable company in the world and all, Apple is one of the most coveted places to work. To Elon Musk, however, it's a graveyard; a place where the people he fired go to find a job.
"They have hired people we’ve fired. We always jokingly call Apple the 'Tesla Graveyard.' If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I’m not kidding," he said in a recent interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt, Business Insider reports.
And that's not even the only jab Musk took at Apple in that interview. When asked what he thinks about the idea of Apple building a car, he said that it's a "good idea" but that cars are "very complex compared to phones or smartwatches."
"Did you ever take a look at the Apple Watch?" Musk asked with a laugh.
Ouch.
Musk made a similar point in February, claiming that Apple "tries very hard to recruit from Tesla.” However, a Bloomberg report at the time claimed the reverse is also true and that Tesla poached around 150 people from Apple.
Rumors that Apple is building an iCar have been around forever, but they intensified this year. In May, a report from The Wall Street Journal claimed Apple is working on a car battery, and another WSJ report in September claimed there's even a launch date for Apple's car: 2019.
Musk's snarky remarks are in contrast with last year's report that the two companies have talked about an acquisition. Several analysts recommended Apple should buy Tesla, but if Musk's current demeanor toward Apple is any indication, it's not going to happen anytime soon.
