NBC may have fired Donald Trump from The Apprentice, but SNL has another job for him.

The show announced Tuesday that the GOP presidential candidate will host its Nov. 7 episode, with musical guest Sia.

Trump previously hosted more than a decade ago, emceeing the show on April 3, 2004.

The move comes just two weeks into what's been a very politics-heavy SNL season.

In fact, Taran Killam kicked off Season 41 with a biting sketch in which he played Trump and Cecily Strong portrayed the candidate's wife Melania.

The last Republican presidential candidate to host SNL during his campaign was flat tax fan Steve Forbes in 1996. It... didn't go well.

Rev. Al Sharpton also hosted back in 2003 when he was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination. His hosting led to equal times concerns from NBC affiliates in states where Sharpton met the requirements necessary to get on the ballot.

Per federal rules, broadcast stations are required to provide equal time to candidates who are actively campaigning in those qualified states. Technically speaking, this rule does not apply to SNL, as CNN pointed out, since the show does not fall into the categories mentioned in the official rules (news programs and talk shows are also exempt).

NBC affiliates recently played it safe, however, with Hillary Clinton's came in the season premiere, making an official filing with the FCC. (She officially appeared for three minutes and twelve seconds, in case you were wondering.)

How affiliates will handle Trump's appearance remains to be seen but the rule itself has been seen as something of an ancient relic as it was initially enacted in 1934 when TV offerings were, you know, a little more limited.
