A few familiar faces popped up on SNL for Tracy Morgan's big return to Studio 8H.
The night marked Morgan's first big gig since he was involved in a June 2014 crash that claimed the life of comic James “Jimmy Mack” McNair and left Morgan seriously injured.

In his opening monologue, Morgan reflected briefly on his journey back to the stage -- then used that sobering moment to launch into a 30 Rock-themed sketch.
The bit was pitched as a look at a (fake) episode from 2012, in which his character Tracy Jordan was fighting for his own life after trying to "non-artificially inseminate" a jellyfish.
Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, Alec Baldwin, and Jack McBrayer all reprised their roles in the sketch. Spoiler alert: Tracy Jordan survived. Spoiler alert 2: Smash did not.
