Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood take 'Star Wars' to the Country Music Awards

A short time ago, in a galaxy far, far away --if you do not live in the American south -- Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood opened the 2015 Country Music Awards with a meta running bit about a canceled Star Wars introduction to the show.

This is Underwood and Paisley's eighth time hosting together, Guitar Solo (Paisley) and Carrie Fischer (Underwood) scrambled backstage to restore order in the country galaxy.

The show aired on ABC and Disney owns both Lucasfilm and ABC Entertainment Group, but that's probably not a factor in the tie in at all.

As a polite Southern gentleman, Paisley kicked things off by complimenting Carrie's hairdo.

Everything came full circle when a Storm Trooper barged on stage. Well, Star Trek's own Captain Kirk, William Shatner.
