Is it too much to ask for a little alone time? Perhaps it is, if you're a stray elephant seal leaving a trail of destruction in your wake while trying to find some peace and quiet.

Found in a backyard in Tasmania's Bruny Island, "Molly" -- the seal in question -- tried dodging photographers by taking some shortcuts through residential fences after being caught loitering in private property.

Residents told Tasmanian paper The Mercury the seal had broken into a backyard in Adventure Bay, destroying property in the process. Witnesses said the seal was about 2.5 metres long.

Local resident Scott Longey -- owner of a caravan park in Adventure Bay -- spoke to Mashable Australia and said Molly had been hanging around the area for weeks.

The seal, given the nickname Molly the first time she had been spotted around the place, is currently lounging at Longey's park.

Longey said they've managed to lure her back to the ocean with fish on a bit of rope once before, but Molly just wants to be part of their world and has since returned.

"Seals come and go," Longey said. "They're not here all the time, but this is the first time a seal has come up this far."

Despite Molly's size, Longey said she isn't dangerous, but advises against getting too close.

"Some people staying at the park notified me she was here again, propped up against their car," he said. "She's done some damage to it, but everyone else is fine."

Longey said they'll have to move her from the park site eventually, but until then she's just chillin'.
