Coldplay will headline next year's Super Bowl Halftime Show, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The British rock band will take the stage for Super Bowl 50, which will be held in Santa Clara, California on Feb. 7.

The British rockers have about 15 years of material to choose from, as well as a new album on the way, and will likely highlight some recent tracks, like the single "Adventure of a Lifetime."

Coldplay will also reportedly put tickets on sale for their North American tour after the halftime performance, likely seeing a nice rise in sales because of the sporting event's major viewership. Last year, Katy Perry's performance was watched by 118.5 million viewers, making it the most-watched halftime show ever.

Rumors had swirled earlier this year that previous halftime show performer Bruno Mars would headline this year's show, but bring out a medley of other artists to celebrate the Super Bowl's special 50th anniversary.

Last year, Perry brought out Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz during her set. Considering Coldplay's slew of famous friends (including Beyonce and Jay Z), the band has quite a few options to choose from if they had to pick featured guests.

Let the speculation begin.
