As if dodging gates weren't difficult enough, skiers in the modern world also need to keep an eye out for falling drones.

Marcel Hirscher, a four-time reigning World Cup overall champion skier, was beginning his second run during a slalom race in in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, when a drone recording the event crashed, nearly colliding with the skier.

Hirscher went on to finish the race second and seemed unaffected by the drone's crash, but he was less than pleased by the near miss.

"This is horrible," Hirscher told the Associated Press. "This can never happen again. This can be a serious injury."
