LONDON -- It's been a couple of weeks now since we found out who will be playing Harry, Ron and Hermione in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play.

The news that British actress Noma Dumezweni had been cast as Hermione Granger -- a character previously played by Emma Watson in the films -- drummed up a lot of discussion on Twitter at the time, with many people tweeting Watson to ask for her views on the casting choice.

I'd love to see @EmWatson's opinion about Black hermione— Piroco Trosko™ (@pablopelleg) December 22, 2015

And on Saturday, Watson finally shared her excitement.

Can't wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year. #harrypotterandthecursedchild #2016— Emma Watson (@EmWatson) January 2, 2016

J.K. Rowling and actor Matthew Lewis have previously tweeted their thoughts about Dumezweni's casting.

Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermione https://t.co/5fKX4InjTH— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) December 21, 2015

@Mattdavelewis @TomFelton thoughts on woman of colour being cast as Hermione? No continuity https://t.co/tAxzEWXoIe pic.twitter.com/AkxDaOKGMK— Michelle Brodie (@mml_brodie) December 21, 2015

And Neville Longbottom was blonde. I really don't care. Good luck to her. https://t.co/0JNjK3Pe0V— Matthew Lewis (@Mattdavelewis) December 21, 2015
