The unveiling of Oculus Rift pricing and pre-orders brought another unexpected revelation: the Oculus Remote.

This little fella is packed into every Rift package, and it's there as an alternative to the pack-in Xbox One controller. You'll still want to use the gamepad for playing the more involved games, but the Remote is perfect for navigating around the dashboard and other menus.

Oculus says that the Remote is best for browsing the store, exploring 360-degree video content and "experience a wide range of VR games and entertainment."

Its main feature is the round, top-mounted touchpad which presumably offers you mouse-like controls in the VR space. There's also four buttons: a "back" button, a tiny directional pad and two others, one unmarked and the other bearing the Oculus logo.

We'll surely hear more about how the Oculus Remote and what it's uses are as the March/April ship dates creep closer.
