Republican presidential candidate and newfound fashionista Marco Rubio currently faces scrutiny from his opponents after being spotted in a pair of basic black heeled booties.
Rubio's fashion choice comes at a time when presidential frontrunners can't seem to escape their stylish quirks. Trump has his hair, and Clinton has her pantsuit collection. So, Rubio's shoe notoriety might just get him to the front of the race. That is, if he can effectively run for president in those 2-inch heels.

Opponent Ted Cruz's communications director Rick Tyler mockingly supported Rubio's fashion choice with the following tweet:

This is an interesting statement coming from a someone who represents another boot-wearing man.
Ted Cruz's campaign isn't the only one getting in on the taunting.
Rand Paul used his Twitter account to take a stab at Rubio's heels, while the Kentucky senator stood in a closet full of fabulous women's footwear belonging to Whoopi Goldberg.

When The Des Moines Register asked Rubio what he thinks about the conversations his less-than-conservative heels have sparked, he replied, "I don't know."
It remains to be seen which candidate, if any, will be clicking their heels all the way home to the White House come November.
