By now we seen a long list of burned hoverboards and even a few in the midst of exploding, but this is the first time we've seen one go up in flames while the owner is on it.
Hoverboard owner Kevin MacLeod says he charged his brand new hoverboard overnight and, as we can see in the video, as soon as he takes it outside and tries to ride the device it erupts in flames. And it happens dangerously fast, giving MacLeod barely enough time to escape being scorched by the fire.
"No wonder you're not allowed to bring them on [airplane] flights," says MacLeod as he watches the hoverboard burn.
Unlike other hoverboard burning videos, this one doesn't continue to burn and shoot out batteries, but that might be because he quickly doused the device with water. But even after dumping a good deal of water on the device it still smolders as smoke wafts from its insides.
