LONDON -- It's not often that an artist purposefully desecrates their own painting, particularly when it's so large and detailed they must have spent ages creating it.

The street artist who painted a black-and-white mural of Donald Trump's face in London this weekend clearly has very strong feelings about the painting's subject matter, though.

According to Reddit user klausbatb who saw the mural during its creation, the artist finished his marathon painting session by hurling eggs at Trump's face.

"I think the guy who painted it also egged," klausbatb wrote. "There were photographers about so figure it was a planned stunt of some sort.

"Walked past it on my way to have lunch and the guy was painting it. Went back to have a look after and he'd finished it, the egged it [sic]."

At this point it's unclear who the artist is, but his actions seem to have gone down well with the Reddit community.

"This is a particularly important part of English political debate -- egging and pelting," wrote Reddit user krodders.

"I suspect (and hope) that Trump will find out more about this interesting difference from U.S. politics next time he visits the UK."
