LONDON -- Anti-nuclear messages and the phrase "man's fault" have been sprayed onto at least two of the corpses of the five sperm whales that have washed up on the UK's shores this week.

A rudimentary CND logo (disowned by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament's UK branch) and a reference to the Fukushima nuclear power plant damaged by a tsunami in 2011 are among the scrawls.

"RIP" was also written in large white letters on the body of one whale.

Fukushima was spelt wrong, "man's fault" was short of an apostrophe, and the CND logo was missing part of its designs.

One of the whales suddenly emitted a massive blast of air Monday in what some onlookers called an explosion.

While people flocked to take photos next to the whales, others condemned the messages.

Spraying graffiti on a dead whale ... distasteful, unnecessary and disrespectful. pic.twitter.com/Xs60LrmhNY— Lewis Pugh (@LewisPugh) January 26, 2016

CND has denied it's behind the graffiti, pointing out that the logo differs to its usual design.

We condemn the graffiti on the dead whale. For the record:it's not us & it's not our logo. CND's logo has a vertical line from top to bottom— CND (@CNDuk) January 25, 2016
