Two a.m. feminist rage tweet storms are always a good idea. Just avoid subtweets.

Case in point: Demi Lovato went on a rant over the weekend, inspired by Kesha's tragic legal battle to make music without working with the man who she claims has been sexually and emotionally abusing her for years.

Demi Tweeted out a message of support for Kesha on Saturday afternoon.

And then, just after midnight, Demi got real.

Later, during the hours of daylight, she posted what many assumed was a subtweet at Taylor Swift, who donated money to Kesha's cause but has not publicly commented on it. Money helps, but Lovato demands that Swift speak now.

Swift, for the record, has business ties with Dr. Luke that complicates matters. Her label, Big Machine Records, and Dr. Luke's Prescription Songs have a business relationship aimed to bring songwriters from the pop and country worlds together. In addition to Kesha, Prescription Songs' roster includes Katy Perry and Bonnie McKee, who have not commented publicly on the issue.

Perry did, however, post this cryptic Instagram on the day of Kesha's hearing.

On Sunday, Lovato tweeted what seemed to be another dig at Swift.

Lovato later commented on a Taylor Swift fan Instagram account, ProudOfSwift, that called her out and clarified her tweet.

The account is now "On Private To Control Drama."

Later in the day, however, Lovato seemed to experience pangs of regret. Without ever directly mentioning Swift, she posted this to her Instagram.

While Lovato might have conflicting feelings, Kesha's mom couldn't be happier about the donation.
