What is it about free snacks at the office that have us munching even when we’re not hungry? Whether it’s due to stress or the free factor, it’s all too easy to snack the work day away. Combined with sitting and hunching over your computer for hours on end, it can sometimes feel like work is another hurdle to living a healthy lifestyle. But it doesn’t have to be!

Here are a few other simple ways to stay healthy during the workweek:

1. Step up your commute

Not only do they save you cash and the inevitable boredom of going to the same salad place every day, they also give you meal options that may require a bit more walking from the office to pick up your lunch — not a bad thing.

4. Take gym breaks

Working the gym into your work routine doesn’t have to be a drawn out affair. Stash workout gear in your desk so you can be spontaneous on days when you’ve got a free window of time, and use a subscription fitness app to book impromptu classes.

5. Source expert tips and tricks

Try a wellness app like Noom to keep track of activity and meals with a few swipes, and understand the habits that might be holding you back. You’ll also get helpful tips for how to deal with everyday challenges like an office that doubles as snack central.
