ASCII art, a graphic design technique in which an artist creates an image using lines of text characters, has been around since the typewriter. One-line ASCII art wasn't common until Twitter made it practical.
Several Twitter artists like @tw1tt3rart and @TakashiFujita have applied the technique to wish the Twitterverse a happy 4th of July (or at least celebrate the weekend). Retweet away.
