An Australian footy player has shown what it means to be a star.

Adelaide Crows captain Taylor Walker came to the rescue of an upset young girl before a match at Adelaide Oval against North Melbourne on Sunday.

The girl, named as seven-year-old Satine Cahill by the Adelaide Football Club, was the team's mascot for the day, but moments before she was due to run onto the field with the team, she became scared by the noise of fireworks and broke down in a corner.

Giant-sized Walker -- known as Tex -- noticed the pigtailed girl crying and went over to help. He calmed her down, before grabbing her hand and walking out with her by his side. Karma worked a treat for the 194cm goal scorer, with his team smashing North Melbourne, 140 to 63.
