Apple Bans MySpace in Stores

Ah, those Apples stores. The friendly, hip personnel, the cool atmosphere - it's the best place to quickly check out your MySpace profile, right? Wrong. Apple has confirmed a ban on the popular social networking site in its stores, since users are hogging the computers and taking photos of themselves with the built-in webcams.

MySpace browsing is also quite bandwidth-heavy, although Apple's official statement reveals that they're probably less worried about bandwidth and more about people loitering about for hours in the store, having fun on MySpace (and probably not buying anything). The statement says: "Nearly 2 million people visit Apple stores every week. We want to provide everyone a chance to test-drive a Mac, so we are no longer offering access to MySpace in our stores."

This decision from Apple probably has to do with soon-to-be-launched iPhone, which will probably drive thousands of people to Apple's retail stores, and MySpace related idling would only add to the crowdedness.
