Ava DuVernay's next project is a journey through space and time.

The Selma director is set to adapt A Wrinkle in Time for Disney, with a script by Oscar-winning Frozen co-director and writer Jennifer Lee, Mashable has confirmed.

A Wrinkle in Time is a 1963 sci-fi novel by Madeleine L'Engle about a young girl who must journey through time and space to save her missing father. Disney has tried to adapt the novel before, with the 2003 TV movie version starring Katie Stuart -- and L'Engle was not a fan. When asked if the film "met expectations" in a 2004 interview with Newsweek, she gave this response:

"Oh, yes. I expected it to be bad," she said, "and it is."

Disney's latest adaptation has been in the works for a few years now. It was announced back in 2010, with Jeff Stockwell (Bridge to Terabithia) set to write and direct.

Fast forward a few years and now there's a lot more girl power behind the scenes.

DuVernay seemingly confirmed the news (first reported Tuesday by Deadline) herself, with a subtle retweet of a L'Engle fan account.

But if I knew everything, there would be no wonder, because what I believe in is far more than I know.
