In the words of Freddie Mercury, another one bites the dust.
On Wednesday, teens all over the world weeped as this generation's favorite boy band One Direction lost a member. Zayn Malik left the group "to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight."
It's not the first time an iconic group has lost a member, though most leave to move on to bigger solo endeavors rather than leading a normal life. Some have speculated his relationship may have something to do with it, which is also a familiar ballad.
Like all the other breakups in music history, the fate of the band could go a number of ways. Perhaps Malik was just the Mark Wahlberg of his time. (Here's hoping he avoids The Happening of his time.)
