President Barack Obama tipped his cap to the press on Monday, after the commander-in-chief sunk a 40-foot chip shot while playing golf in Hawaii.

Obama made the shot on the 18th hole at the Mid-Pacific Country Club, a prestigious club in Kailua, Hawaii.

Obama doesn't often speak publicly about his golf game. But past media reports say the president is not the best golfer, especially for a guy who spends a lot of time on the links.

He's also been attacked in the past, including by GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump, for spending too much time on playing golf — an attack that's plagued past presidents too, including Obama's predecessor George W. Bush.

“It was reported today [Obama] played 250 rounds of golf and he’s going to be in Hawaii, I think did they say for three weeks?” Trump said at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Monday night, the Washington Post reported. “Two hundred and fifty rounds, that’s more than a guy who plays in the PGA Tour plays. He played more golf last year than Tiger Woods. We don’t have time for this. We have to work.”

Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and first daughters Sasha and Malia Obama are spending the holidays at their vacation home in Kailua, an annual tradition for the first family.
